Datsun 240Z Oulton Park Circuit, Swinging Sixties

Autumn CSCC race at Oulton Park  7th October 2017, was the venue for the Swinging sixties race in the Datsun (Sporty) 240.  A  season long problem with the front brakes saw a disappointing qualifying session, 24th on the grid.

A first lap multicar accident on a very damp track saw the race being red flagged and subsequently  the restart of the race reduced from 40 mins to 20 mins.

A great restart saw Dean Halsey (the owner of The Datsun 240) come round at the end of he first lap in 15th from 24th. The pit window was open from the restart and Dean chose to come in the next lap. Wil jumped in and re-joined in 28th place.

The car still having braking problems with the fronts locking up made for a rather hairy race for Wil. He had to use all of his vast race experience to keep the car on the track.

Even with the reduced length of the race, Wil was able to climb through the field to finish 8th overall and 3rd in class with the 3rd fastest lap time overall. A great result salvaged.

The next race in The Datsun will be at Brands Hatch Circuit November 11th.
