CSCC Night Race Weekend Brands Hatch Circuit Swinging Sixties Race

The last weekend in the series for The Swinging Sixties. Wil driving The Datsun 240z with owner Dean Halsey. The aim was to get a win in the race.

In qualifying Wil maintained a pole position for his stint by a full second over the rest of the field. The team called him in for Dean to take over, with a drying track it was unlikely that The Datsun would remain in pole. Wil’s very fast qualifying session meant that even with a drying track, a front row was achieved. The best from the car in it’s maiden season. 1st season aim was achieved.

The race was started by Wil, towards the end of the first lap on the pits straight the pole sitter lost traction and hit the wall hard, narrowly missing Wil in the process. This meant that Wil was down to 3rd but getting into his rhythm he managed to get back to 2nd and catching the leader .

Wil handed the car to Dean in the pit stop in the lead by 30 seconds. As the race progressed, Dean in his maiden year of racing, managed to finish the car in 6th place overall but achieving the 2nd aim for the season, a 1st in class.

A very happy team and a great result for all including the invited guests who had come to support us for the last race of the season.
